José Torres was 15 years old when he installed portable industrial heating equipment to temporarily heat, with rudimentary propane and oil machines, large spaces, industrial warehouses and buildings. “Those were other times” – as José Torres says – “in which the utility of the machines, quality and durability predominated”.
Throughout the 60s he saw how large corporate buildings were erected, important infrastructures, roads, large population movements took place and jobs increased: “At that time there were no
contracts, budgets or delivery notes, specifies the manager.
“Everything was done by word of mouth and bill after bill was paid.”
What was said was fulfilled, the word counted more than a contract even if you lost money with what was promised. However, according to José Torres, currently there are companies, especially large construction companies, that paralyze an invoice because the street number on the delivery note is two numbers more than the number of the work.

During the 70s José Torres settled in Barcelona and formed his own company together with his wife, Juana Muñoz, a Law graduate who performed administrative functions for more than 15 years. “Those years – remarks José Torres – were very hard, there were many political changes, (…) the personnel were hired directly at the train stations.
“Migrants came from the villages and went directly to work.”
“There was no temporary agency, the employment offices were the bars.” In those years there were also many strikes and demonstrations, etc. “The strikes lasted weeks and in order to work without encountering the pickets we had to go to install the machines at night, etc. Today’s crisis is a simple constipation, what we of our generation have gone through has been a flu that we overcome based on daily effort and suffering, without credit, without globalization and without subprime mortgages ”, concludes José Torres. In the following years Torres consolidated itself as the pioneer company in temporary climate solutions, carried out installations in places as significant as private parties in Park Güell in Barcelona, celebrations in the National Palace, events in the Delicias Station in Madrid, fairgrounds in Barcelona and Madrid and the big celebrations at the Drassanes in Barcelona, among others. In the 90s, air conditioning equipment was introduced in Spain as an indispensable element in homes and, later, they were incorporated into the world of work, industry and events. The climatic conditions in the workplaces were also regularized, the campaigns for the prevention of occupational hazards and ergonomics in manual processes were started. According to José Torres “there was talk of a work environment and the most important thing is that the advances were applied day by day. This allowed us to grow as a company specialized in temporary solutions in all sectors.

“Those were the years of the projection of the company at the national level and the mentality was changing”. “Before – he adds – strong machines were preferred, that gave a lot of heat or a lot of cold or a lot of ventilation and that did not fail, it was a German style”. “But little by little it was changing to the French style to the point where, on many occasions, they prefer it to be beautiful than to work. Customers have gone from wanting German machines that are hard as a stone, to machines that are mainly very aesthetic and, if they also work, the better ”, says José Torres.

During the beginning of this century, the Torres team grew and the staff became increasingly specialized, so much so that the divisions for climate, ventilation, electrical power, industrial cold, air conditioning, and rapid humidity drying were carried out.
